This building was from the early days of the factory. |
We went to a different department with dedicated function. They may be a typical factory but a few of them were really interesting!
The buildings was a mixed between a new and an old. One of it was constructed during the early formation of the company. It has been more than a hundred years old but was still standing strong.

New building for the corporate office. |
The workers were really different compared to what I had seen in Malaysia. Most of them were approaching veteran categories. They may have been working very long there!
The usage of robots were very minimum. Only certain precision works were robot assisted. On overall, we could say products assembled here are "hand made".
A good example is an Auto Pay Station. Every single item (chassis, cover, motherboard, coins/note storage, operating system, etc) was made by S&B except the wiring which was cut and grouped by a third party vendor.

Another classic petrol pump |
To my surprised, S&B was also a manufacturer of a fuel pump for a petrol station. One of their client was Shell. Again, most parts were built by S&B itself (including the pump and the sensors).
Other product was a control station for railway junction. This was a patented product. It has 7 level redundancy.
They have a big R&D team. They did research on design, function, technology, marketing and etc..
Very interesting!
More classic! |
